Overview

In November 2023, JC Group was appointed as the electrical subcontractor for a significant solar PV installation at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny. Tasked with installing a 225kW solar array with 200kW inverters, the goal was to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint and generate on-site renewable electricity—without interrupting the hotel’s daily operations.

This marked JC Group’s first collaboration with Radisson Blu, and the project was delivered successfully in under two weeks.

Project Requirements

Key components of the project included:

• Full electrical installation of 225kW rooftop solar PV array

• Full property power shutdown conducted overnight to minimise disruption

To avoid disrupting hotel operations, we:

• Worked together with the hotel’s general manager and owner to coordinate the shutdown at a time that ensured minimal interference with guest services, functions, or hotel amenities

The solar PV system was expertly installed to maximise output while integrating seamlessly with the hotel’s existing electrical infrastructure. Highlights included:

• Precision placement of panels for optimal energy capture
• Safe and efficient routing of DC and AC cabling

The completed installation now allows Radisson Blu Letterkenny to generate approximately 220kWh of renewable electricity, all of which is consumed on-site—particularly by high-demand areas like the hotel gym and swimming pool.
